Terms and conditions of sale
Last updated: 22 July 2026
These terms govern the writing, proofreading, editing and translation services offered on this site. They apply to any order placed following an accepted quote.
1. Purpose and scope
These terms apply to services provided by Majda Bouchaouir, trading as Chouette de Plume, sole trader (micro-entreprise), SIREN 105 058 903, 9 rue des Érables, 45250 Briare, France, hereafter "the Provider", to any individual or company placing an order, hereafter "the Client".
Placing an order implies unreserved acceptance of these terms, which prevail over the Client's purchasing terms unless otherwise agreed in writing.
2. Services offered
The Provider offers five packages, described on the Services page: critical read and advice, basic correction, standard correction and revision, in-depth correction and revision, and bespoke writing.
The details of each package appear on the Services page and form part of the contract. The chosen package is restated on the quote.
3. Quote and formation of contract
Every job is preceded by a free quote, issued after receipt of the text or brief, and sent within 48 working hours.
The quote states the package, word count, price, delivery time and number of revisions included. It is valid for 30 days.
The contract is formed on the date the Client accepts the quote in writing.
The Provider reserves the right to accept or decline any project, without having to give reasons. Issuing a quote does not constitute acceptance of the project: it commits the Provider only once the order is confirmed.
Price simulations shown on the site are indicative and do not constitute a binding offer.
4. Prices
Services are charged per word, according to the chosen package and the language of the text. Current rates are shown on the Services page and may be revised at any time, with no effect on quotes already accepted.
Bespoke writing is quoted individually.
Volume discounts may apply; where they do, they appear on the quote.
VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French tax code.
5. Payment
Payment is made in two instalments: 50% on ordering, the remaining 50% on delivery.
Payment is by bank transfer only.
A 50% deposit on ordering; work begins only once this deposit has actually been received. The 50% balance is due on delivery.
Late payment incurs penalties equal to three times the statutory interest rate, plus a fixed recovery charge of €40 for business clients.
6. Deadlines and delivery
The delivery time is set in the quote and runs from receipt of the complete text and of the deposit.
Delivery is by email, in the agreed format.
Any delay by the Client in supplying the required material postpones the deadline accordingly.
7. Revisions
One revision is included in each job, to be requested within 7 calendar days of delivery.
The revision covers the scope defined in the quote. Anything outside that scope, or any change to the source text after delivery, requires a new quote.
8. Right of withdrawal
Consumer Clients have fourteen days from conclusion of the contract to withdraw, without reason or penalty, under article L221-18 of the French consumer code.
If the Client asks for work to begin before that period ends, they must pay for the portion already performed. Once the service has been fully performed, the right of withdrawal can no longer be exercised, under article L221-28.
This right does not apply to business clients.
9. Client obligations
The Client warrants that they hold the rights to the texts they supply and bears sole responsibility for their content.
They provide what is needed to carry out the work: final text, instructions, and any terminology specific to their field.
10. Liability
The Provider has a duty of best efforts. They apply their skill to improve the quality of the text, without guaranteeing any commercial, editorial or search-ranking outcome.
The Provider's liability is in any event limited to the amount of the job concerned.
Final approval of the text before publication rests with the Client.
11. Intellectual property
Exploitation rights in bespoke written texts transfer to the Client once the job has been paid for in full.
Until payment is made, the Provider retains full ownership of the delivered texts.
Unless the Client objects in writing, the Provider may cite the assignment as a reference, without disclosing confidential content.
12. Confidentiality
The Provider undertakes not to disclose any part of the documents entrusted to them, and not to use them for any purpose other than performing the work.
13. Personal data
Personal data processing is described in the privacy policy, linked from the footer.
14. Disputes
In the event of a disagreement, the Client shall first contact the Provider to seek an amicable solution.
These terms are governed by French law.
